About

The creative process doesn't stop at music.

Mccoy Sounds is built around the belief that creative work should connect. Whether I'm helping shape a song, develop a vocal performance, or build a business's online presence, I'm drawn to the same challenge: taking an idea and turning it into something people can feel, understand, and engage with.

Music background

I taught myself piano at six, then moved into classical lessons and a professional traveling choir through high school. After graduating, I spent six months in London learning fashion design — and I sold everything I ever made, which led me to create an outfit for an artist who was going on tour.

He traded that outfit for studio time, and at twenty I made my first song ever with a guitar and my voice — and fell deeply in love with music all over again. After working through the ropes of Portland studios, I ended up in Seattle recording professionally with Lost Boys, where Sam Martin discovered me. That moment revolutionized my songwriting and artist journey — on to Stefan Dabruck Management and Warner in Germany.

Today I'm fully independent, working with artists all over the world to craft my sound authentically — for myself, as a sonic receipt of my life, and for those who have experienced the same or felt something from my music.

Websites & digital work

I came to web work through the creative pull I felt to it. Seeing so many websites that either didn't exist or misrepresented the hard work people have put in for years, I loved the idea of designing, redesigning, and optimizing online presence for companies and individuals. I see it as a creative outlet that lets me impact people in more personal ways — helping them represent themselves authentically, like how I try to do for myself sonically.

How I collaborate

You work directly with me — not a large team. That means honest conversations, clear scopes, and someone who cares how the finished work feels.

The common thread

What songwriting taught me about building websites.

  1. 01

    Listening carefully

Before a lyric or a layout, I want to understand what you're really trying to say.

  2. 02

    Knowing the audience

A song and a website both succeed when they meet the right people where they are.

  3. 03

    Finding the structure

Verses and choruses, pages and paths — structure is what makes things feel effortless.

  4. 04

    Making it resonate

The goal is always something people can feel, not just something that functions.

  5. 05

    Sweating the execution

The last 10% — a breath, a pixel, a sentence — is where quality shows.
